In the Graal-Mueritz Baltic Sea resort and surrounding countryside

Baltic Sea Beach 5 kms of fine, sandy beach, free of pebble, invite you to rest and walk. At the beach of Graal-Mueritz the "Blue Europe Flag" is waving – awarded by the European Union as a symbol of the excellent quality of the Baltic Sea water.
Sea Pier The sea pier with its length of 350 meters is an attraction point for guests as well as for locals. It is the only one in Europe operated by solar energy and it looks very futuristic.
  Rhododendron park A treasure of the place is the rhododendron park of 4,5 hectares with 55 varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons. The park is unique in Mecklenburg and it is one of the largest in Germany. Whenever the more than 2100 plants are blossoming in May/June, the park is shining full of colours and the air is filled with the scent of the plants. During this period, the rhododendron queen makes guided tours through the park, and there are weekly park concerts.
  "Rostocker Heide"
("Rostock Heath"
)
Towards the land, the place is surrounded by mixed woodland of 12.000 hectares called "Rostocker Heide". It is the largest closed woodland area in northern Germany. Hiking and cycling lanes with direction signs invite you for an active regenerative holiday.
Nature reserve "Ribnitz-Mueritzer Hochmoor" (Ribnitz-Mueritz moor) Towards the Fischland-Darss region, the Ribnitz-Mueritz moor borders the health sea resort. In this nature reserve, one can find very rare animals and plants, among them some varieties of orchids and birds in danger of extinction. You will learn more about this on a guided walk offered by the "Tourismus- und Kur GmbH" (tourism and health organisation).
Fishermen’s cottages Like in many fishing villages, the interested visitor will find very beautiful, restored fishermen’s cottages also in Graal-Mueritz. These thatched, historic cottages are always worth seeing.
Local History Museum The history of the place is documented here. Interesting exhibits of all ages show the evolution from a fishing village to tourist centre.
