Town Church The Town church is the most important historical monument of Krakow-am-See. The brick building dating back to the 13th century, originally built by German settlers as a hall church, is the oldest building in town. In was remodelled in the 17th and 18th century time and again after many town fires. Today, the church is classified as a building of the transition period from Romanesque to Gothic style. When entering into the building, one is immediately attracted by the wonderful altarpiece with carved relief.
Synagogue In Krakow-am-See, you will find the only synagogue in the north-east of Germany preserved in its original shape, and also a Jewish cemetery. In 1920, the synagogue was sold to the town after the departure of many members of the Jewish community, and in 1995 it was given to the public following extensive restorative works. Today, the synagogue is the domicile of the Krakow Information Office. In the former prayer’s hall, exhibitions, concerts and presentations take place.

Town Hall The town hall is the cornerstone of the ensemble of our market place, which is classified as a historical monument and consists mainly of residences of the 18th and 19th century. This building was erected in 1857 in Neo-Gothic style. Opposite to the town hall, the fish of the fountain inaugurated in 1995 splashes and invites to stay.
View Point tower No matter from what direction you access Krakow-am-See, you will be greeted by the view point tower at the summit of Joernberg hill. For climbing up the 126 steps of the tower, the visitor is rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view of the glittering landscape of the Krakow lakes. Succeeding to a wooden view point tower erected in 1894, a new building of reinforced concrete was erected on the same spot in 1907, but later destroyed as a result of the war. The view platform standing on today’s tower is nearly 100 metres above sea level.
Lake promenade The regenerative walking path, leading our guests immediately alongside the Krakow town lake, offers the visitor various views of the treasures of Krakow as well as of our beautiful nature. Worth mentioning are the many thatched boat houses, the facilities of the fishery and the open air swimming baths built in 1938 and now classified as a historical monument.
Krakow Mill In the past, this technical monument of the town of Krakow-am-See was greeting its guests from the mill’s mountain, until on the 15th of July 1975 this building burnt down entirely caused by a flash of lightning. Today, the Krakow mill association tries to rebuild this cultural monument of our town.
  Nature reserve
Mecklenburgian Switzerland and Lake Kummerower See
The Nature Reserve " Mecklenburgian Switzerland and Lake Kummerow" is situated in the heart of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. Its landscape, typical of the region, shaped by the last Ice Age, shows a large variety and numerous peculiarities. Differences of altitude of more than 100 metres make that the landscape look very varied and reminds of forms of the hill countries. Nestling among the hills we find numerous lakes, the Kummerow Lake and the Malchin Lake counting amongst the largest ones in Germany. Their water level is only slightly above the level of the Baltic Sea.
The Peene, a river flowing slowly through meadows, shelters in its reed bank zone and in the largest lowland moored area of Germany many rare animals, among them the beaver.
Municipality of Linstow The municipality of Linstow is of special interest for people seeking regeneration because of its location directly near the Nature park Nossentiner/ Schwinzer Heath.
The village of Linstow harbours the museum of the Wolhynians, an open air museum classified as a historical monument – the only one of its kind in Germany, opened in 1993 to commemorate the wretched fate of Wolhynian Germans. As a result of the Hitler-Stalin-Pact, many settlers of Wolhynia, a region in Western Ukraine, were forced to leave the country. In 1946/47, 72 Wolhynian Germans arrive at the small Mecklenburgian village of Linstow under conditions often beneath human dignity.
Municipality of Kuchelmiss The municipality of Kuchelmiss is situated close to the "Nebel" nature reserve. On a track with information signs about nature, leading through the "Nebel valley", you reach the Kuchelmiss water mill, a technical monument dated 1791. Today, it houses a mill museum. In the beginning, the water mill belonged to Kuchelmiss Castle, which was built between 1863 and 1866 and destroyed about 100 years later. The last owner of this property was Prince Albert of Saxony-Altenburg, duke of Saxony, still remembered today by the prince’s grave near Wilsen village.
Municipality of Hoppenrade Treasures of this municipality are the many beautiful tree-lined roads. The lime alley between Luedershagen and Koppelow and the chestnut’s alley between Koelln and Luedershagen must be mentioned here. Barrows in Luedershagen and Koppelow are attraction points both for friends of nature and history. Conspicuous in all places, except Koelln, are existing manor houses with appending cottages. Worth mentioning is the closed ensemble of the Hoppenrade manor house, built in the so-called castle style between 1850 and 1853, with its grounds and stables.
Municipality of Dobbin The municipality of Dobbin is situated directly at the "Upper Krakow Lake" (Krakower Obersee) Nature Reserve. A view point tower on the southern bank of the Upper Krakow Lake, close to the village of Glave, provides a good view of the lake panorama. A hiking trail from Dobbin alongside the Upper Lake across the "Wadehaeng" to Krakow-am-See, also called the "path of fun", is a special treat. In Dobbin, rich in history, the visitor will find many testimonies of historic epochs. A great point of attraction is a memorial stone with the inscription "Juliana 1909", dedicated to Queen Juliana, mother of queen Beatrix, who often spent their holidays in Dobbin as a young girl.
Municipality of Bellin The attractive landscape around Bellin is characterised by intensely structured terminal moraines, dry meadows and lakes nestling among them as well as by a set of ancient oaks and lime trees. For friends of history, the Late Romanesque church of Bellin, built around 1230 of stones found on fields, is worth a visit. There, one can admire a stone sarcophagus, a stone font basin, carved figures and wall and ceiling paintings. The church, with its excellent acoustics, has developed into an attractive place for cultural events with outstanding artists.
Municipality of Charlottenthal In the village of Charlottental, we find a treasure of Mecklenburgian architecture. There, in 1843 a manor house in the style of Tudor Gothic was built by Theodor Krueger, one of the best-known architects of his time.
In 1898, the lieutenant Florentin von Schmidt-Pauli took over the property and set up a stud farm there. Today, this stylish house is destined to be converted into a hotel.
