Old Town:
Punkt Old Town Quarter There are several lovingly restored half timbered houses around the New Market and along the pedestrian way. The best known of them is the Loewenapotheke, built in 1623. Also worth seeing is the Town hall, built in 1847 in English Tudor/Gothic style.
Punkt George Church Built in the 14th. century and altered several times, it is the oldest building in Waren. The Neogothic interior furnishing dates mostly from the 19th. century. The notable crucifix group is over 600 years old; it is still a mystery how it could have survived the great fire of 1699 when even the church bell melted in the heat.
There is a marvellous view from the tower over the Waren lake district.
Punkt Marien Church The origins of this church date back to the 14th. century. It was rebuilt between 1790 and 1792.

The oldest natural history museum in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, established in 1866. It houses an extensive collection showing the formation of the landscape and the natural history of the Mueritz region. The cold water aquarium with its 25.000 litre capacity is the largest in Germany and an attraction for young and old.

Heath and meadow conservation
near Damerow
A special attraction within the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park on the Damerower Werder south of Jabel. The heaths flourish under natural conditions on the 320 hectare peninsula in Lake Koelpin. There is a show meadow for visitors to illustrate animal grazing management.
Punkt Punkt Mueritz-National Park The Mueritz, the largest lake in Germany, and a hundred more lakes dominate the landscape with large tracts of woodland in this 310 kmē national park. Ancient woodland conditions prevail here in the self sown beech, oak and conifer woods, with a rich variety of native flora and fauna such as black storks, cranes, cormorants, various deer and wild swine. The red deer make an impressive noise when they begin to bellow in late summer. The ospreys are a rare and special sight. there are 360 km. of signed footpaths, coach and cycle paths with some fine views.
Punkt Punkt Nature Park at "Nossentiner-Schwinzer Heide" Two rivers, the Nebel and the Mildenitz, 57 lakes and expansive woodlands define the landscape here. Many water birds including the osprey and also otters live in this region.
There are old turf diggings near Lake Plau which are gradually becoming overgrown. Nature lovers can see the individual phases in the natural reversion from open water to marginal plants to marshland and watch the typical flora and fauna develop there. More than 60 bird species breed here, including the reed warbler, crane and titmouse, they can be watched from the lookout tower.
Punkt Punkt Heinrich-Schliemann-Museum

Heinrich Schliemann (1822-1890), the world famous discoverer of Troy and the royal tombs at Mycenae, spent part of his early life in Ankershagen (Mueritz district). The museum is dedicated to the life and work of the great archaeologist.
Punkt Punkt Fritz-Reuter- Literaturmuseum

Housed in the former town hall in the market square, altered in 1788. Reuter was born there and it is now the Fritz Reuter Literature Museum. Visitors can see 13 rooms full of collections of manuscripts and handwritten papers by the writer as well as records and documents. There is also a library of Low German literature.
