The peninsula Darss is mostly
covered with beautiful, nearly undisturbed Darsser Forest A network of hiking, cycling, and riding trails of 50 kilometers in length, runs through the entire forest (approx. 4700 hectares in size) and leads to the towns of Prerow and Born. Following in the West is the amazing West-Beach, turned into a wild and romantic scenery by wind and waves. The Northern point known as "Darsser Ort", with the lighthouse is a very popular trip destination. |

| National
Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft |
This National Park is
with a size of 805 km² the largest in the new provinces of Germany. It takes in a vast natural coastal landscape including the peninsulas Darss and Zingst, sprawling fenland, and parts of West Ruegen as well as the island of Hiddensee. The greater part of the park, some 687 km², is water. Typical elements of the Baltic Coast landscape, such as steep and flat coastline, sandbars, coves, shallows and mudflats, dunes and beaches with typical flora and fauna are very close to each other in the National Park. Each year in the Fall, parts of the National Park become the largest resting place for migrating cranes in Europe. |

| Rhododendronpark 18181 Graal-Mueritz |
The park was set up during the
years of 1955 until 1961. With a size of 4.5 hectares, the park is
the largest of its kind. The 50 different types of Rhododendron and shrubs up to 10 m tall make an impressive picture during flowering. Every year after Whitsun, people celebrate the Rhododendron-Festival. |
