The artist
Barlach increased the popularity of this basilica in brick Gothic style
(built between 1226 and 1390) with his piece "Der Schwebende"
(man floating on air). Notable features include the double-winged altar,
the 12 almost life-sized apostles, Guestrow apostles, the triumphal cross dating from 1370, and many ornate tombs of Mecklenburg's princes. |

One of the largest and most notable preserved Renaissance buildings in the country. The master builders Parr and Brandin gave it its present form between 1558-99. Market Place | In the center of the square, surrounded by buildings in classicism style and four medieval gabled houses, stand the St. Mary's church and the Town Hall. The square is one of the finest in Mecklenburg. This is an excellent place to start a sightseeing tour. | |

church with three naves (early 14th century) was altered in 1880-1883.
The group of triumphal crosses from the 16th century and the ornate
council seating are worth seeing. The 53m high steeple is open to visitors in summer. |

In 1785, the Biedermeier-painter Kersting, a friend of Caspar David Friedrich was born in this narrow, half timbered house near the market. The house is now a museum dedicated to the life and work of Kersting. | |

This monument dedicated to Ernst Barlach houses the greater part of his work. The sculptor, illustrator and writer Barlach moved into the studio in 1931 and lived there until 1938. Over 100 sculptures, including his last, "Die Lachende Alte", sketches, drawings, and writings are featured here. | |

| Schweriner Zoo | The Schwerin Zoo houses some 600 animals from 100 species. Waterfowl species are well-represented there in a central water landscape where they enjoy the ideal conditions. of over10 hectares. . Families will definitely have a lot of fun here.
The bob cart run "Cool Running" is 600 m long
and has a gradient of 4 meters. There are also a Go-Cart track, a riding track, an aerofoil, a "dream ship", dinosaur show, a motor scooter alley, a cable-car, a Ferris wheel, and remote boats. |

| Monastery Dobbertin and Park |
Founded by
Benedictines in 1220, it was transformed into a home for aristocratic
ladies in 1572. Today, it is a care center for handicapped people. The
buildings and the park are well-preserved and maintained. The unique twin-towered church in Mecklenburg Vorpommern was rebuilt according to plans by K. F. Schinkel, carried out by G. A. Demmler. |
