Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide
Two rivers, the Nebel and the Mildenitz, 57 lakes and expansive woodlands define the landscape here. Many water birds including the osprey and also otters live in this region.
There are old turf diggings near Lake Plau which are gradually becoming overgrown. Nature lovers can see the individual phases in the natural reversion from open water to marginal plants to marshland and watch the typical flora and fauna develop there. More than 60 bird species breed here, including the reed warbler, crane and titmouse, they can be watched from the lookout tower.
  Nature Park in
Feldberg Lake District
This 360 km² nature park is notable for its wooded expanses crystal clear lakes, flat meadows and steep hills. 14 partially traditional nature reserves make up the nature park. The beech stand at Lüttenhagen was already under a protection order by Grand Duke Georg von Mecklenburg-Strelitz in the 19th. century. 1938 saw the first German nature reserve, the "Heiligen Hallen".
There are many lakes with countless ponds, water holes and hollows where the ospreys, fish eagles and otters make their homes.
Guided tours through the nature reserve are always eventful in the "Heilige Hallen", "Hullerbusch" and "Hauptmannsberg" as are the excursions through the Feldberg Country Park.
  Nature Park at Schaalsee
The lake is 23 km² and at 71,5 m. deep is the deepest freshwater lake in North Germany and is at the heart of the 162 km² park. Different habitats, such as the wide reed beds, marshes, alder brakes, wet meadows and hedgerows afford the ideal living conditions for rare birds, otters, crested newts and other creatures. Botanical rarities such as sundew, cotton grass, orchids and regal fern flourish here and offer the nature lover a glimpse of undisturbed nature.
Mecklenburg Elbe Valley The Elbe has influenced the landscape in this 400 km² nature park. Many birds use the Elbe valley for their ideal breeding grounds or as a rest stop during their flight to warmer climes. The quiet tributaries such as the Sude and the Elde are fringed by bracken, softwoods, wet grasslands, marshes, conifer woods and shifting dunes. The shifting dunes are several kilometres long and are of special interest; they run parallel to the river Löcknitz near Klein Schmöln.
  Nature Park "Isle of Usedom"
The Nature Park measures some 542 km², some 100 km² of which are covered by water from the Peenestrom, Achterwasser and Oderhaff. The especially valuable natural regions of the Isle of Usedom lie in nine other nature reserves.
