Windmills have always had a certain romance about them. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern still boasts more than 100 windmill sites. A visit to these historic and majestic buildings is a worthwhile experience at any time of the year; many windmills now house interesting exhibitions of their history, some even have restaurants with an individual air.

Standing near Sternberg, it is still functional and is now a monument with all the old fittings. Tours by arrangement.

The largest in Mecklenburg; the old machinery is still intact. There is a superb view from the gallery.
The restaurant opens daily and serves good Mecklenburg cuisine.

Mill Museum
The Dutch windmill, built in 1883, houses a technical museum grinding chamber anda mighty star wheel. You can obtain information here on the other 5 windmills belonging to the museum complex.
