| Bernstein or amber, the "Gold from
the Sea", can be found with a little luck by strollers on the Baltic coast
The Baltic region was a subtropical forest some 40-50 million years ago and resin from the
conifers turned to amber, more precisely, Baltic amber. It supplies 90 % of the world demand and is the most important of some 300 kinds in the world. Our exhibition will familiarise you with the nature, the artistic and cultural history and the working of amber. You can learn how to polish amber in our model workshop. There is also an in house café with 46 places. Other exhibitions: Art gallery in monastery, Ribnitz-Damgarten Fine Art Society Gallery e.V. |
