| Binz is the largest resort on the Isle of Ruegen. It is perfectly sitiuated on the fringes of the Granitz between the Baltic and Lake Schmachter. Binz boasts fine, sandy beaches, superb beech woods and hotels and guest houses preserved in spa style. The pier was rebuilt in 1994 and at 370 m. is the longest on Ruegen. It is the embarkation point for cruise ships to the neighbouring Baltic resorts and the famous Chalk Coast. Binz is renowned for its fine, well preserved spa architecture. The handsome villas along the promenade date from the heyday of the liveliest and largest Baltic resort on Rügen. They were built towards the end of the last century and up to the 1920s. The centre of the resort is the nucleus: The old time honoured rest house with its pavilionin front. |
