Luebz is a small town lying in a charming setting in the Mecklenburg lake district and was first mentioned in the records of 1308. It has a long and chequered history, witnessed by the old watchtower of the former Eldenburg which serves today as a museum and the recently rediscovered remains of a castle of the Dukes of Mecklenburg. This served in the middle ages as a widow’s residence. The river Elde runs through the city; you can travel from Hamburg to Berlin along its connecting waterways and it is especially picturesque with its locks, water mills and MARINA. The streets are lined with old half timbered houses and manicured greenery and there are lots of shops and bars. The good road and rail networks between Lübz and other important points such as Schwerin, Rostock and Guestrow - and other areas such as the Baltic - make it worth visiting at any time.

The city is also nationally known through the quality beer produced by the Mecklenburg Brewery Luebz.
