| The lake is bordered on both sides to the
north by superb woodland, giving way in the south to parkland around Hohenzieritz and a
generally hilly and scenic topography. The Tollensesee cycling circuit now leads right
round the lake, taking in Lieps. The level of difficulty is moderate and the gradients are
quite gentle. Sights worth seeing on the tour include the Neubrandenburg Culture Park,
Belvedere, Alt Rehse (best kept village in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 1995), Klein Nemerow and
the Behmshöhe. Also to be recommended is a pause for a breather at Hohenzieritz
(Chateau) and the Hellbergen, both in the vicinity of the Tollense basin. |
