| This north east German port lies in a
picturesque setting between Ueckermuender
Heide and Stettiner Haff, surrounded by
water, forest and heath. The city in the greenery has an interesting centre with an
enclosed old town, small shops, restaurants and bars. The St. Marien Church is worth
seeing, as is the last remaining preserved Pomeranian Ducal chateau in Germany, which
nowadays houses the town council and the Haffmuseum. The Ueckermünde Zoo receives over 150.000 visitors each year from near and far. The walk through the monkey compound is especially popular. There is also a pets corner, an adventure playground and a cosy snack bar. You can make boat trips from Ueckermünde to Poland from the Haff. A well developed network of cycling and walking paths offers restful rambling to people seeking a quiet day out. Yacht charter, the Haff spa with its fine sandy beach and riding facilities are all there for the asking. |
