| The city of Mirow lies between the
charming forests and the lake district on the Mecklenburg lakeland plain. The romantic
Chateau Island and the historic gatehouse, (built in 1588), of the residential chateau and
the fine old Johannite Church are all an invitation to loiter and daydream there. Mirow
lies directly on the Mueritz Havel
Waterway and offers the ideal
conditions for all kinds of water sports. Forests and paths there are free from motor
traffic and are especially suited to hiking, cycling and riding. The surrounding
countryside with its unique flora and fauna is bound to appeal to all nature lovers. A
visit to the Dendrological (arboretum) Gardens at "Erbsland" is a
must. It was planted in 1887 with foreign trees and is one of the oldest gardens of its
