| The Müritz Elde Waterway |
| The Müritz-Elde waterway connects the
Lower Elbe to Müritz. Boat travellers can also navigate the Stör Canal to Lake Schwerin
and the State Capital Schwerin. The waterway leads from Dömitz to Müritz, a distance of 184 km with 17 locks. The Mittelwasser is 1,20 metres deep and the lowest height for passage is 3,50 Meter at Grabow. The canal is well banked and currents are minimal. Dömitz also has a good marina as a starting point for the Mecklenburg Lake District. Other stops include Neu Kalliß, Neu Göhren, Grabow, Neustadt-Glewe, Garwitz, Parchim, Slate, Neuburg, Burow, Lübz and Plau. The tour leads through a beautiful natural setting and small, picturesque towns such as Grabow, Parchim, Lübz, and Plau am See. |
