Longest rivers: The 185 km long Elde is the longest river in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. Other principal rivers are the Peene (156km), the Warnow (128km), the Recknitz and the Trebel.
Highest peaks: The Helpter Berg (Mecklenburg-Strelitz) at 179 m. above 
sea level is the highest peak in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. 
Other principal peaks are the Ruhner Berge (Parchim
at 178 m and the Brohmer Berge (Mecklenburg-Strelitz) 
at 149 m. above sea level.
Major nature reserves: 13% of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is given over to 11 major nature reserves. Another 261 nature reserves cover a total area of 70,21 hectares.
