Otto Lilienthal In the Otto-Lilienthal-Museum, Town of Anklam ______________________________ Otto Lilienthal was born on May 23rd, 1848, in the town of Anklam. Here he attended the grammar school which today is named after him, before beginning his studies at the Berlin Trade Academy. |
| With many inventions and patents in a number of countries, he acquired a reputation as an engineering works’ owner. However, Otto Lilienthal attained world fame by constructing the first successful flying machines in history and through his gliding flights between 1891 and 1896 which are documented in the Otto-Lilienthal-Museum in Anklam. | |
