The themes centre naturally on marine biology, marine sciences, fishery and the flora and fauna of the Baltic coast.

The big attraction is the marine aquarium with a total volume of 300,000 litres of sea water. Visitors here can see the unique and rich underwater world of plants and creatures at close quarters, such as the sharks in the largest pool.

The museum offers something of interest for everybody; there are attendants for your enquiries and special events for the children, family Sundays and feeding times for the fish.

Museum publications and maritime souvenirs are on sale in the museum shop.

After the tour the museum café is open for refreshments. A visit to the museum’s outdoor feature, the "NATUREUM Darßer Ort" in the
National Park Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft is also worthwhile.
