Hiking route - Lassahn - Stintenburg - Lake Lassahner See

Hiking trips departing from Lassahn are of exceptional attractiveness. The Lassahn Church, the beautiful sight on Lake Lassahner See, the greatly informative exhibition in the administrative building of the Nature Reserve on the Stintenburg and the hedge landscape of Techin are suitably attractive goals. You should leave your car in Lassahn because there are no public parking emplacements next to the hiking departure points. The Slavonic name "Lassahn", meaning "Forest settlement" was mentioned in writing in 1230 for the first time as a peasant village in the Tax Registry books of Ratzeburg. The original forest stock was strongly decimated by the running of iron, glass and potash factories in Stintenburger Hütte as well as by the wood trade with Lüneburg. In the 14th Century, Lassahn was very infamous as a nest of horse mounted robbers. In 1400, the village was sold to the Duke of Lauenburg. In 1832 it definitively became an independent Church community. The development of Lassahn was principally marked by agriculture and fishery.
Today, the village is mainly turned towards the developing of the holiday trade. A stroll through the village makes you unconsciously linger before a remarkable building: The Abundus Church of Lassahn. Zarrentin in Westmecklenburg
Immediately next to the Church in Lassahn, a deep narrow path leads down to Lake Lassahner See, built by a cove of Lake Schaalsee. You should absolutely give yourself the trouble of climbing up the little hill on the right leading from the small bathing area. A little bank invites you to sit down for a while. The sight from this spot is exceptionally impressive. On the opposite side lays Kampenwerder, the biggest island of Lake Schaalsee and your eye reaches far across the lake. If you look back, you can see standing out of the silhouette of the village, the now familiar Lassahn church.
Perhaps you now wish to get to know more about the island opposite. Just walk by the small bathing area over a concrete plate covered path to the narrow cobbled lane, leading back to Lassahn on the left and leading you on the right to the island. Do stay for a while on the small bridge. From here, you can see in the distance across Lake Lassahner See and on the left, idyllically placed, Lake Borgsee.
