Description of the trips A beautiful bicycle path of around 18 km in length near the sea and through land bordering the coast on comfortable ways is suggested with this trip. |

| You use for the first part of your ride the well sign posted bicycle paths in the direction of Meschelsdorf, turning off before reaching the village, following the bicycle long distance lane, after Mechelsdorf. There begins an asphalt hiking and cycling path that, in its course touches the Kuehlungsborn-Neubukow-Road. On this little frequented road, you reach Bastorf after a short ride. | |

There, it is worth making a detour to a 120-year-old lighthouse still in service today. From its height you can enjoy a wonderful panorama all around. When the sight is clear, you can make out the salt lagoon in south-western direction, on the north-western horizon, the coast of Fehmarn and in the East, the buildings of Rostock and the Town of Warnemuende. |
| Back in the village in the public house "Zum Leuchtturm" (The Lighthouse Inn) you go further along the Dorfstrasse (around 200 m) up to where, at the ancient inn called "Treffpunkt" (The Meeting Point) (on the right hand side of the street), the lane leading to Hohen-Niendorf branches off. A lane made of concrete slabs, later a firm gravel path, is good to ride on and leads along the ancient estate of Hohen-Niendorf to the Rerik Road. A halt in Hohen-Niendorf is recommended because of its manor house (not yet reconstructed) and the manor grounds, which are under nature conservation order, with their rare trees. Here, you will find the cork pine, the Colorado pine, the Hemlock pine, and the sickle pine, as well as the scaled cedar and various oak species. | |
| The meandering Rerik road, strongly frequented by holiday makers must, unfortunately, be drawn into the trip, but only for 900 m.After that, a road sign shows to the village of Wischuer on the left. You follow the sign post, but turn off after around 300 m towards the right into a sand path, marked "Haffstrasse". You can go down from the route, ride only a few hundred meters into the village and make a refreshing halt in the homely country guest house. | ![]() |
| The "Haffstrasse" begins with a short stretch of sandy path, crosses the Kuehlungsborn- Neubukow-Road and leads as a hardly frequented asphalt road in a straight line in the direction of the lagoon, which you always keep in sight during the ride. You pass finally Blengow, reach the Wustrow-Road near Gaarzer Hof and shortly afterwards, the houses of Rerik. | |
